Here are 9 engaging staff Christmas party ideas to help you celebrate the season in style. These work Xmas party ideas include games, group activities, and unique touches that your team won’t forget.
1. Music bingo
Kick off the party with a game of holiday-themed music bingo. Instead of numbers, the bingo cards feature popular Christmas songs or festive hits. As you play short clips, players mark the corresponding songs and shout “Bingo!” when they score.
Why it works: Music bingo is easy to organize, works well in-person or online, and gets everyone in the holiday spirit.
2. Holiday trivia showdown
Divide your team into groups and host a trivia contest focused on holiday movies, songs, global traditions, or even company trivia. Add rounds with increasing difficulty and small prizes for the winners.
Why it works: Trivia encourages collaboration, sparks conversation, and adds an educational twist to your celebration.
You can make it yourself. Ready-made saves you an evening of work.

3. Ugly sweater contest
Invite everyone to wear their most outrageous Christmas sweater. Create prize categories like “Funniest,” “Most Festive,” and “Most Over-the-Top,” and let the team vote on winners.
Why it works: It’s visual, funny, and sets a playful tone: perfect for breaking the ice.
4. Secret Santa with a twist
Modernize this classic gift exchange by adding themes like “DIY gifts,” “Gifts under $10,” or “Eco-friendly presents.” If you’re hosting remotely, try a digital gift card swap.
Why it works: It builds anticipation and adds a thoughtful, personal element to the event.
5. Holiday photo booth
Set up a photo booth with festive backdrops and props like Santa hats, reindeer antlers, and holiday signs. For virtual teams, use themed Zoom backgrounds and encourage screenshots.
Why it works: It creates shareable moments, builds team camaraderie, and leaves you with great holiday photos.
6. Christmas cocktail (or mocktail) class
Bring in a mixologist: virtually or in person: to teach your team how to make holiday drinks like mulled wine, spiced cider, or peppermint mocktails. Send ingredient lists in advance.
Why it works: It feels upscale, interactive, and gives your team a new skill they can use at home.
7. Office holiday awards
Create fun award categories and host a short ceremony during your party. Think “Best Zoom Background,” “Most Likely to Have an Elf on the Shelf,” or “Holiday Spirit MVP.”
Why it works: It adds humor and allows you to recognize your team in a creative, memorable way.
8. Festive team challenge
Host a team competition like gingerbread house decorating, ornament-making, or a holiday-themed scavenger hunt. Offer prizes for creativity or speed.
Why it works: Team challenges foster collaboration, tap into creativity, and keep the energy high.
Making it yourself takes longer than you think
